Method 12

I think that my favorite method was blogging because I have never used it before and it was fun learning about it and trying it out for the first time. I know it has been around forever I just never got the chance to start one and this aloud me to make time to set a blog up. I think that it has affected me a little, however, I did already know most of these method steps. From this course I will definitely take away the ability to be able to blog and organize all the different ones with the RSS reader. I think that it would be great to see a newer more updated version of this 12 step program. I would love to learn newer things, so I would love to take another course if it was offered.

Method 11

Podcasts are great!!! I love going on to itunes and searching all the free podcasts. I think it would be great way to let patrons know about upcoming events at the library. For my library it wouldn't be very useful because we are so small, but for much larger libraries I am sure it would work great.

Method 10

Posting stuff to wiki was easier than I thought it was going to be. I have always tried to stay away from wikipedia because of the huge population that uses it. Because there are so many people and so many different opinions fact and fiction all get thrown into the mix. I do think that for younger people it would be a great way to share information about books and events going on in the library.

Method 9

Chatting online has been available for quite sometime now. I think I have been using chat ever since it came about. It is a useful tool, however, I do not think that my library would get any real use out of it. I think it is more for personal use.

Method 8

I love social networking! I am pretty much addicted to facebook. I get on every day and update my status and talk with friends. I do have some privacy concerns, but there are ways to set your profile to private that way no one can see your personal information. My library does not use a social network, but it could be a good tool to use to spread information, especially to the younger kids. I think that facebook would be better than something like twitter because we would not have things to update daily. Not only are these social networks a way to share information through status updates but you can also share pictures and videos all on one network. It wraps everything up into one place.

Method 7

This method was very new to me. I have never heard anything about the del.icio.us website. I currently have a macbook and I just use the bookmarking tool that is on it, but it is however quite messy. Personally, I don't think i would benefit from this website very much because I don't get on very many websites or surf the web regularly. However, I do see how this social bookmarking website is great for other internet users. I think the Delicious website is more for the individual internet, and I am not really sure how a library could benefit from it. I will have to do some more research to see how the staff at my library could use social bookmarking, but for now I think it would too much.

Method 6

I enjoyed this method. Youtube is thoroughly entertaining. I could sit and watch videos for hours and hours. There is something on Youtube for everyone. I love looking up music, interviews, trailers for movies, education videos, and my very own home videos. I chose this Elliott Smith video because I love music and he has to be one of my favorite artists. If libraries learn how and start posting videos on their websites It would take them to a whole new level. The videos could be entertaining or educational. I think that videos could help patrons learn how to use the tools and resources that library has to offer.
